It is to its "builder" mayor, Théophile MICHEL, elected in 1888, that Jonquières Saint Vincent owes its astonishing and majestic town hall: facing the disapproval of a part of the population worried about the high cost of the project in the midst of a wine crisis, he entrusted the Nîmes architect Auguste AUGIERE with the design of the building, which resembles a medieval castle. The Town Hall was inaugurated with great pomp on August 30, 1903 by Gaston DOUMERGUE, then deputy of the constituency and Minister of the Colonies.
