A sleepy-looking little village on the road from Remoulins to Pouzilhac. With a beautiful old church, a large old tree and a fountain in the center, and a small bar/café next door. It's like something out of a picture book.

Nothing here except a lovely little village and this egregious château. Which is already more than enough.

The Saint-Michel church in Caderousse is one of the rare examples of Provençal Flamboyant Gothic architecture. Built in Romanesque-Gothic style, it consists of a nave, four bays, and a semicircular Romanesque apse.

I agree with Jan, this is quite a dangerous bridge. I was worried my 700mm+ handlebars were too wide for the pavement so rode on the road. A macho driver drove past within centimeters at 80+KmH. On the return trip I used the pavement and it is actually ok for modern MTBs if you take it easy. Two older women were crossing with bikes but pushing them as they too were worried about riding on the pavement. Bottom line, use the pavement, either riding with care or pushing the bike if not that accomplished.

This section of the Rhône Cycle Route offers unobstructed views of the river. This is not the case everywhere.

The Pont de Roquemaure is also good for cyclists. It connects the departments of Vaucluse and Gard.

To take the maquis in French means to disappear in the woods and nature. The maquis became a symbol of resistance during the Second World War. The resistance fighters called themselves maquisards. The maquis specifically refers to those Mediterranean forests composed largely of stunted holm oaks in the middle of which you now move. It is today the kingdom of wild boars.

The Castellas is not to be confused with the Château de Saint-Victor-Lacoste, which is a hotel found in the center of the village of the same name. Here are the ruins of an ancient castle strategically located on a rocky pyramid. From up there you overlook the Tave plain and the Rhône valley. The ruins date from the 11th to the 12th century. From the way the fortress was designed, it seems impregnable. You can observe it along this road which slaloms between the large limestone rocks.
