The real highlight is probably the small, secluded path through the woods along the Lippe River. You don't often get this close to this beautiful river!

In Cappel, a chapel was supposedly founded by Charlemagne after a battle against the Saxons. Cappel Abbey was originally a women's convent. In the 16th century, it was converted into a Protestant women's convent. The western wing with its two towers was built in the 12th century. Worth seeing are the baptismal font base, which likely dates back to the time of the monastery's founding, and vault paintings from around 1250.

Beautiful long avenue

In my opinion, this section is definitely NOT a highlight. While the path does lead through a forest, the condition of the trail is anything but "great." First bumpy, then badly damaged. If you want to avoid the road and are riding a mountain bike or a bike with comfortable suspension, this section might be okay. Definitely not recommended for trekking bikes without suspension.
