Dedicated to Saint Maclou, the church of Conteville depended on the bishop of Dol-de-Bretagne. Its plan is characterized by a nave of three bays from the 13th century and a recessed choir with a flat chevet rebuilt in the 16th century. The roof is made of slate. The church is accessed by a bell tower-porch built to the west of the nave in the 18th century. It is built in brick and cut stone, and topped with a polygonal spire. A sacristy is attached to the north wall of the choir. The entire building is covered with a shingle vault supported by a 15th century frame with careful ornamentation. The triumphal arch at the entrance to the choir is decorated with a torus. The three pointed bays of the south wall of the nave date from the Renaissance: Among the furnishings, it is worth mentioning the baptismal font from the 12th century as well as the high altar from the Louis XV period topped with its lambrequin canopy. Near the church, a monument was erected in honor of Abbot Gilles François Rever de Beauvez (1753-1828), parish priest from 1784 until his death and one of the most prominent figures in the department. Despite the major restoration work carried out in 1893 by Chavlon, an architect in Pont-Audemer, the church of Conteville still retains a special character that earned it a place on the “Circuit of Romanesque churches in the canton of Beuzeville”. In 1999, the Sauvegarde de l’Art français granted a grant of 50,000 F for the restoration of the west gable.

As soon as you arrive in the town, you will be greeted by the sight of picturesque houses with slate-covered facades stretching to the sky. The old boats rocking peacefully in the harbor tell of times gone by and the once bustling activity of this historic port city. A particular highlight is the old basin, commissioned by Colbert in the 17th century, which reflects the splendor of boat trips of that time. While you are here, be sure to take a detour to the quays, where the tall houses on Quai-Catherine form a fascinating contrast to the magnificent stone buildings on Quai Saint-Etienne. After your tour, you can end the evening comfortably in one of the numerous restaurants with a typical fish menu. The harbor offers a unique sight, especially in the evening, when the city lights dance on the water. Honfleur is a place that has managed to retain its authentic charm without degenerating into a mere tourist attraction.

Near Cabourg, in the Calvados, lies Beuvron-en-Auge, an authentic village with many half-timbered houses that have been carefully restored. Very touristy, and a nice start to possibly go cycling or driving the cider route (about 40km).

In Bonneville-la-Louvet, on the D534 road, there still exists what was once a station (later the post office) on the route of a railway line that linked Cormeilles to Pont l’Évêque. The train operated from 1904 until the 1930s, replaced by coaches and a little later, in 1936, for goods. Completely abandoned afterwards, the rails were removed in favor of widening the road and for the construction of housing in the second half of the 20th century.
