In 1396, Jean de Chauveron obtained permission to fortify the place of Ris. He had bought it in 1385. His granddaughter passed the barony to the Hélie de Pompadour, who exchanged the whole to Pierre de Connigham on March 26, 1518, namely "the castle, castellany, land and lordship of Riz-Chauveron and Azat, together with any appurtenances and appendages, based and situated in the county of La Marche (...) with all justice and jurisdiction..."

The Stone Bridge dates 13th and 14th centuries. The bridge was registered as a historic monument on May 23, 1969.

The center is located on a hillside, in the heart of the Limousin countryside; moreover "Tung Lam" means "pine forest" (the Buddha gathered his disciples at the edge of the forest to teach) and "Linh Son" translates as "sacred mountain". Every seven years, the Ostensions Limousines are celebrated there, a ceremony recognized by the U.N.E.S.C.O as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Valley of the Gartempe river, registered in the Natura 2000 network, appreciated by fishermen and artists, with its clear water.

The character town of Magnac-Laval has retained part of its ramparts and some vestiges of its priory. There is also a lapidary museum and very beautiful old doors in the small streets.
