This church was not dedicated to one of the many people who died as martyrs (witnesses of faith) for their Christian beliefs, or who we venerate as blessed or saints because of their exemplary way of life. Rather, this parish has chosen God himself - in the "Holy Trinity" - as its patron saint. According to Christian teaching, we believe in ONE God who exists in THREE persons - God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. The following description can be found on the EKD (Evangelical Church in Germany) website: "The word tries to express the seemingly impossible, namely that God is three and one at the same time. To understand this, it helps to consider how people have experienced God throughout history: as a creator who loves his world and people like a father loves his children. It was rebuilt in the 16th century on older foundations, in a stronghold cited in the 14th century. It consists of ten buildings, including three mills, and a granite and blue stone dovecote with 2,000 balls. Its raison d'être is its positioning on the edge of the old royal path leading to the Hague, where this path moves away from the strike to climb the first cliffs. A visit to the church from the inside is worth it! In the 15th century, a new Gothic-style church was built on the remains of the previous Romanesque church to replace the older one. The church was never completely finished and continued work on it in later centuries, in different styles: one example is the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament. In 1794 the church was looted by the revolutionaries who destroyed the monument to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. In the 19th century, the city architect Geufroy restored and consolidated the building. In 1828, the central portal with the Romanesque porch from the 10th or 12th century was built over with a 26 m high square tower, and the arch of the portal itself was rebuilt.
