The canal 'disappears' in the tunnel

This lock is precision work. Shortly afterward, it's best to cross to the opposite side of the canal to safely backtrack a bit and view the boat lift from below. This way, you can avoid the road.

For centuries, the residence of the Strasbourg bishops stood here. The previous building burned down in the 18th century, and when the French Revolution broke out, only the shell of this building was completed. Thus, it was never used for its original purpose. Since then, it has served various purposes: barracks, living space, town hall... Today, it houses a primary school, the youth hostel, the city museum, a large event hall, the "Espace Rohan," and four additional theater and event halls.

One of the few stickers on the EuroVelo 5 and Véloroute 52 of the Pan-European Cycle Route (Paris-Prague). Véloroute 52 is part of the Pan-European Cycle Route.

Nothing has changed - the statue is still there - beautiful!

A lovely picnic area by the canal. Tables, benches, a drinking water fountain, and even a wastebasket.

Although the climb wasn't particularly challenging, we enjoyed the break with a view of the Champs du Feu and Mont Sainte-Odile from behind.
