“All dogs go to heaven” Loukanikos - meaning "Sausage" - was ginger mongrel which became a Greek folk hero during anti-austerity riots in 2011 and sadly died aged 10 in October 2014. Loukanikos used to charge and yelp alongside protesters when they confronted police and were tear-gassed in the streets of Athens. A leftist newspaper, Avgi, says the dog has been buried in the shade of a tree on a hill in the city centre. Loukanikos was a stray but a protester took him in and looked after him. The dog was originally called Theodor. In 2011 Time magazine listed Loukanikos as one of its personalities of the year.

The Acropolis of Athens is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which stands on a rocky hill and represents the glory of classical Greek civilization. The magnificent citadel is a work of art dating back to the 5th century BC. The entire complex consists of several buildings. The Parthenon: patron goddess of the city, the Erechtheion: famous Caryatid Hall with six graceful female statues, the Propylaea: a monumental entrance gate, the Temple of Athena Nike: dedicated to the goddess of victory.
