Dedicated to Saint Germain of Auxerre. It was built in 1530 and consecrated in 1583. The church is dominated by two bell towers: the right one, known as Saint-Germain, is in the Renaissance style and is topped by a lanterned dome, while the other bell tower has a Gothic spire. Between the towers is a stair turret with pinnacles and an ornate spire.

Apparently, they're in the process of repairing/restoring the locks. The water level was lowered for this purpose. This was the case in June 2024 - @Lydie attached a picture showing that the water level is back to normal. This means that the work on the locks that were repaired is now complete.

Like the many locks on the Nantes-Brest canal, the Saint-Algon lock has long allowed boats to transport goods from one city to another. Today, the lock house is only the breath of a memory of this river period.

Bathed by the Alder, the town of Châteauneuf-du-Faou is an ideal stopover on the Nantes-Brest canal. Below, a campsite and a bistro await you. If you want more, you can always tackle the steep climb that brings you downtown. The shops are more numerous there and, on Thursday afternoon, the weekly market is held there.
