A visit to the old town of Tournus is worthwhile

The cycle path is built on the old towpath on the banks of the Saône between Marnay and Tournus. The abbey church of Saint-Philibert de Tournus is a masterpiece of Romanesque art from the 11th and 12th centuries. The church, the cloister, the chapter house, the refectory and the saddler constitute one of the only monastic ensembles of the 11th century. The unique architecture of the nave offers a striking light. Don't miss going down into the crypt and climbing up to the Saint-Michel chapel.
