Nice view, but a little further, no more path, erosion has done its work. The mountain is steep and very slippery, it is no longer really passable (Sept 2024). I hope that the path will be repaired one day, because the landscapes are magnificent and it is frustrating to have to turn around.

Very nice climb. Lots of gravel on the descent. On the other hand, the last 1.5 km (before the bridge) are impassable by road bike!

Although Mont Vial can seem ubiquitous, cyclists have to travel far into the backcountry to find the turning, which is tucked away somewhere between Toudon and Tourette-du-Chateau. Those who search will be rewarded, however, with a deserted, small, irregularly surfaced scrawl of switchbacks up the rocky mountain face. Perfection, in our eyes at least.
