The Kocatepe Mosque is the largest mosque in the Turkish capital, Ankara. Construction began in 1967 and was completed in 1987. Due to its size and prominent location in the Kocatepe district, it is visible from almost all of central Ankara. ​Architecture and interior: ​Architects Hüsrev Tayla and M. Fatin Uluengin designed the mosque in a neoclassical Ottoman style, inspired by 16th-century mosques such as the Blue Mosque and the Selimiye Mosque. ​The mosque is remarkably large and has four minarets, each 88 meters high. ​The interior is richly decorated with an ornamental ceiling, a large gold chandelier, and marble details, giving it a stately appearance. ​Visitor information: ​The mosque is generally open to visitors outside prayer times. ​Visitors are required to dress respectfully and remove their shoes at the entrance. ​Below the mosque there is a large department store called Beğendik.

The bus station (Otogar, here: AŞTİ) in Ankara. An important place for all cyclists, because if you want to cover longer distances, the number 1 means of transport in Turkey is the long-distance bus. Here from Ankara you can go almost anywhere in Turkey. Taking your bike with you is free, but the bus companies try to declare the bike as bulky luggage and unfairly charge you money. Don't be intimidated and don't pay an extra fee for your bike. In the worst case scenario, ride with another bus company.

The Swan Lake. I also saw young animals. A cute little park in the middle of the big city. You can breathe a sigh of relief and recharge your batteries there.

You can rent bicycles at Lake Eymir. The entire lake is a one-way street, cars only go in one direction. There are many places to sit and rest.

I bumped into this mosque per accident and didn't go inside. It's very impressive from the outside.
