その大きさ、外観ともに壮大なルーベンスの製粉所は、Entre-deux-Mersで最も注目すべきものの一つです。 その設置は11世紀に遡るようです。島の上に建てられた中世の四角い塔は、2km下流にあるバガス製粉所と類似性があります。そこにはまだ3組の石臼が設置されています。しかし、これは要塞化された建物ではなく、堰き止められた橋の上の製粉所です。 北側の建物には18世紀に、2対の石臼とフォロン（穀物を挽くのではなく、織物を叩く機械。「叩く製粉所」とも呼ばれていました）を備えた、二重アーチの橋が追加されました。製粉所のこの南側部分は、「小さなシュノンソー」という名前をもたらすでしょう。この製粉所は2000年から歴史的建造物として分類されています。

Using the power of moving water to drive a mill wheel is an ancient invention that dates back to pre-Christian times. Thanks to such a construction, human or animal muscle power could be easily replaced by a watercourse - natural or artificially created - in order to grind grain into corn, for example. There are essentially two different ways of driving watermills: Either the water simply hits the blades of the water wheel from below to set it in motion; or the water is guided above the wheel and falls onto the blades; this type of construction is more efficient due to natural gravity.

I hope a bit of advertising is allowed. There is a marvellous B&B / gîte - Haras de la Tour - just 2.5 km off all of these routes at Lamothe-Landerron. Many cyclists have stayed here. Very scenic, a few places to stop for refreshments. In the Gironde department, the surface is better than in the Lot-Garonne department. Sometimes nice and shady, many small locks.
