Grinding Hut, Schluchtenweg, Sevelen A razor-sharp look! Until 1945, tools such as hatchets, cross axes, and hay knives from all over the community were sharpened once a week in the old grinding hut. The tools, previously forged in the village blacksmith's shop, were carried up by the boys in a cart and then sharpened to perfection by the blacksmith using a water-powered grindstone. A wooden waterwheel provided the necessary power via a connection. The blacksmith's dexterity and the steady rotation of the grindstone guaranteed the perfect grind. Glacial Mills, Gorge Trail, Sevelen Or constant dripping wears away the stone The deep holes (Kolke) in the streambed were formed 15,000 to 20,000 years ago towards the end of the last Ice Age. Glacial meltwater cascaded through crevasses onto the bedrock more than 100 meters below. The loose material (sand and stone fragments) dissolved from the rock and carried along by the water acted as an abrasive that even hard rock could not resist. Thoughts Mountain consists of fourteen stations and covers an area of 20,000 m². When viewing the artist Gert Gschwendtner's oeuvre, one is constantly confronted with so-called viewer figures. These challenge the viewer to become aware of their own perception. He created an impressive panopticon that interrelates art, nature, and cultural history.
