Charmey is a small resort nestled in the Jogne valley. The village is in the heart of the magnificent Friborg Pre-Alps, and it is a magical place for running.

The Dent de Savigny is a challenging but rewarding peak located in the Swiss Pre-Alps, near the town of Charmey. It offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding peaks, such as the Dent de Ruth, the Cheval Blanc and the Vanil Noir. The best time to visit is from May to October, when the wildflowers are in bloom and the weather is mild. The hike is rated T4+3, meaning it is a demanding mountain hike that requires good physical condition, surefootedness and some experience of alpine terrain. The hike has exposed sections that are secured with steel cables and chains, but also unsecured sections that are steep and precarious. The hike should not be undertaken in wet or snowy weather as it can become very slippery and dangerous.

Tissiniva is a hidden gem of the Swiss Alps, a three-peaked ridge that offers stunning views of the Dent de Brenlaire and the Gros Mont valley. To reach this summit, you can start from the village of Planeys and follow a path that crosses mountain pastures, farms and forests.

La Vounetse is a peak in the Swiss Alps, near the town of Charmey, in the canton of Fribourg. It offers stunning views of the Gruyère region and the surrounding mountains, as well as a variety of trails for different levels of difficulty. One of the most popular trails is the Panorama de la Vounetse loop, which leaves from the Charmey gondola station and takes you to the top of the Vounetse and back in about an hour. This trail is great for bird watching, running, or enjoying the wildflowers and wildlife along the way. The best time to visit this trail is from April to October, when the weather is mild and the landscapes are colorful.

The Stierenberg viewpoint is the highest peak between the Suhre and Aabach valleys, and offers breathtaking views of the Schwarzsee, the surrounding mountains and the Mittelland. You can also admire an imposing sycamore maple which sits on the hiking trail, and rest on a bench which invites you to stroll. The Stierenberg viewpoint is accessible by different routes, such as that of Val-de-Charmey in the Gruyère district. You'll be rewarded with stunning views and a sense of accomplishment after reaching the top of this forested mountain.
