The Chapel of Notre-Dame du Roc has dominated Castellane and the Verdon Valley since the 12th century. It can be reached from the town centre via the "sentier du Roc" path (30 minutes' walk). From the top, you have a magnificent view of Castellane and the course of the Verdone.

Really cute little town. Be sure to make a short stop here! It's worth strolling through the small streets of the old town and wandering through the small shops. Particularly recommended for racing cyclists is a crepe and a good espresso in the old town to recharge your energy for the next stage!

As soon as you get closer, the simple but unusually designed facade catches the eye of the hiker: a bell hangs over the entrance to the chapel, and above it is not a crowning with a cross or a rooster, as is so often the case, but a statue of the Mother of God, who symbolizes this holding baby Jesus in her arms. Inside this small church, dedicated to Mary under the customary French title of "Notre Dame" (Our Lady), countless votive tablets on the side walls testify to thanksgiving left by the faithful.
