Evangelical Reformed Church Community A history spanning at least 900 years The current church was built in 1673 by master builder Abraham Dünz I on the foundations of at least three previous churches. Only an excavation by the Archaeological Service would confirm today's assumptions that the village of Langnau had its own church before the Trub monastery was founded (1125). The medieval previous church was dedicated to Saint Martin. The veneration of this saint, who was very popular in the first millennium, indicates the age of the village and church. Due to the massive increase in the number of Anabaptists and the rebellious rural population (Peasants' War of 1653), the government in Bern ordered the new construction and reconstruction of over thirty churches in the 17th century. It commissioned its cathedral master builder Abraham Dünz I to build a new Reformed church in Langnau. After its construction in 1673, the church was renovated several times and often adapted to the taste of the time. Various paintings decorated the walls and ceiling, sometimes as colorful, overgrown garlands of plants, sometimes as imitation curtains, sometimes as sober, straight-lined cuboid divisions. Museum Chüechlihus Das Haus Regionalmuseum Chüechlihus. Das Haus wurde um 1526 erbaut und ist somit das älteste weitgehend original erhaltene Gebäude der Region. Mit seinem steilen Dach, den herausragenden Blockkonsolen und der mächtigen, durch unregelmässige Fensterreihen gegliederten Fassade ist das Haus in der typischen Hauslandschaft des oberen Emmentals ein Solitär, von dessen Ursprüngen man sehr wenig weiss. Ursprünglich wohl als Krämerhaus an bester Marktlage errichtet, beherbergte es während Jahrhunderten im Erdgeschoss verschiedene Gewerbehandlungen. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde darin eine Kaffeewirtschaft eingerichtet, in der man bis 1956 „Chüechli“, also fettgebackenes Kleingebäck, servierte. Im Weiteren waren zeitweise die Gemeindeschreiberei, eine Jugendherberge, Militär, ein Lesezirkel sowie Lager- und Markträume im Haus untergebracht, bis 1981die Gemeinde Langnau das ganze Gebäude als Museum zur Verfügung stellte. Im Frühling 2009 wurde das angebaute Wohnhaus von 1856 restauriert und dem Museum angegliedert . Heute fasziniert die besondere Atmosphäre des uralten Hauses Besucher aus aller Welt. Das Museum Plakat kl1930 wurde das Museum auf dem Grundstock der historischen Sammlung der Sekundarschule Langnau und der Privatsammlung eines Oberlehrers gegründet. Ursprünglich wurden dem Museum zwei oder drei Räume des Gebäudes zugewiesen. Dank privater Initiativen konnte das Sammelgut vermehrt und seine Bedeutung gesteigert werden. 1961 stellte die Gemeinde Langnau dem Museum mehr Raum zur Verfügung, 1981wurde das ganze Gebäude mit einem eigens ausgebauten Scheunenteil restauriert und auf 20 Ausstellungsräume erweitert. Im Frühling 2009 wurde das Museum erweitert und es umfasst nun 25 Räume mit Dauerausstellungen zur Geschichte, zu Alltag, Gewerbe und Handwerk des Emmentals sowie zu wichtigen Persönlichkeiten der Region. Eine der grössten und wichtigsten Sammlungen von Langnau-Keramik sowie Küferei und Flüehliglas ergänzen das Angebot. Der kleine Hof mit Bauerngarten lädt zum Verweilen ein und bietet Platz für Apéros oder Konzerte. Bis zur Auflösung der Stiftung Schwaar wurden regelmässig Ausstellung mit Gemälden aus deren Sammlung gezeigt.
