A beautiful little hilltop village. The road to get there is a bit steep but only 4km long. The view is breathtaking and well worth a little sweat up the hills.

It is the same climb as the Col de Meyrand. The climb is quite gentle and rolling but very long! more than 20km to the Col de Loubaresse and 22.5 to the Col de Meyrand. The view up there is magnificent. Loubaresse is a very small village of about forty inhabitants, one of the least populated in Ardèche.

Ideal crossing point, refueling and rest. Far from everything, in the middle of nature and at the intersection of the watershed, secondary roads and GR. There you will find quality catering, homemade charcuterie and affordable rooms with a very friendly welcome. A real little paradise for a break or for a night!

Nice crossing point in the middle of the ruins. The Grande Porte farm is a good restaurant/refreshment point with a lovely view overlooking the abbey. There is also a water point within the abbey to fill the gourds.

The artist Felice Varini has created an interesting work on the ruins of the Mazan Abbey, built in the 12th century. It is part of an artistic journey around the watershed line which crosses the Ardèche. This one is called “A circle and a thousand fragments” where the artist chose to work with gold leaf, mineral on mineral.
