If the battery of the e-bike starts to run low, there is a free charging station opposite the lock, which really impressed me.

Schönberg Castle The castle was built in the 13th century. In 1269, it was mentioned as the property of the Lords of Hohenfels. Later owners were the Bishops of Regensburg and the Dukes of Bavaria. In the following centuries, there was a constant change of ownership, including the Satelbog family, the Hauzendorf family, the Auer family, the Hof family, the Murach family, and the Zenger family. On September 12, 1504, the castle was conquered by the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. After the Battle of Wenzenbach, Duke Albrecht moved into Schönberg and granted it in 1508 to Bernhardin von Stauff, Baron of Ehrenfels. Schönberg passed as a dowry to the Lerchenfelder family, who resided here until 1753, when it was sold to the Breslau canon Georg Karl Joseph von Stingelheim. The Stingelheim family remained in possession of Schönberg until 1817, when Karl Alexander von Thurn und Taxis purchased the estate. In 1927, the castle passed to the Vilsmeier family, who established an inn in the outbuildings a year later. In 1957, the property came into the possession of the Fichtl family. The current owner is the physician Hans-Hermann Klünemann, who, with the assistance of the German Foundation for Monument Protection, initiated the renovation of the complex. The renovation of the castle was largely completed in 2010. The castle is a three-story, hipped-roof building with a bay window and an irregularly oriented south-facing floor plan. The core building dates from 1253/54 with a medieval extension. Alterations took place from the late 17th to the early 18th century and around 1770/71. The roof structure dates from 1820/23. There is a Baroque castle chapel of St. Joseph. Also preserved are parts of the circular wall with shell towers, as well as the presumably late medieval moat wall with its ditch and outer wall made of granite rubble. 1月 4, 2025, Schloss Kürn
Kürn Castle The castle was built by the Lords of Kürn, who had their ancestral seat there. The nobles of Kürn were first mentioned in 1197, and a "castrum dictum Churn" in 1299. After selling the castle and the Kürn lordship to the Paulsdorfers in 1394, the Lords of Kürn moved their seat to Kürnberg Castle near Stamsried, where Hans Kürner is mentioned in 1422 as the last Kürnberger. The Dukes of Bavaria were later to own Kürn Castle in 1623 and the Stingelheim family from 1642 onwards. The castle burned down in 1825, so the castle was rebuilt in classicist style from 1826 onwards. It has been owned by the Counts of Walderdorff since 1830. The castle is a two-storey, simple, classicist four-wing structure with hipped roofs, nine window axes, a gabled central projection and plasterwork. The core of the structure dates back to 1698. The large natural park on a south-western slope includes natural granite blocks and has a rich beech population. Today, only the moat is recognizable from the old medieval castle complex. 12月 28, 2024, Schloss Regendorf
Regendorf Castle The Lords of Regendorf, initially referred to as "Lords of Regeldorf", were first mentioned at the beginning of the 13th century. In 1490, Hans Regeldorfer of Regeldorf and Wolfsegg is entered in the Land Register. In 1475, he appears in the entourage of Duke Ludwig IX at the Landshut wedding. Hans Regeldorfer was married twice, he left behind two daughters and no male descendants, and so Regendorf passed into other hands as a male fief after his death. In 1515, the castle was rebuilt for the then owner, the Regensburg Imperial Mint Master Martin Lerch. He had to have a crucifixion group erected for the manslaughter of a mint clerk in 1513. This is now in the apse of the Minorite Church in Regensburg. In 1699, Franziska Adelheid von Braittenburg sold the Regendorf castle and manor to Philipp Anton Leopold Freiherr von Oberndorff, who came from the Upper Palatinate line of the Oberndorff family. They rebuilt the castle around 1840 and added a floor. In 1884, Regendorf Castle was sold to the Imperial Councilor Freiherr von Faber in Stein near Nuremberg and later to the Counts of Faber-Castell. In 1916, it was purchased from them by the royal Bavarian treasurer Eduard von Harnier. As the von Harnier family was known to the National Socialist authorities as anti-National Socialists, they had to vacate the castle in 1936 and sell it to the city of Regensburg. Regendorf Castle is a complex dating back to 1515 and consists of two parallel wings that are connected in the middle by an intermediate building. The main building is a three-story hipped roof building with an H-shaped floor plan. The eastern wing has two four-storey round towers and a garden staircase. The castle chapel at the north end of the east wing dates from 1688. The former stables are a two-storey stable barn with a half-hipped roof from 1830. Remains of the terraced landscape garden with staircase from the 18th century can be found to the west of the castle. The park enclosure, with a fence to the south, otherwise a stone wall with stone pillars, dates from around 1840. Source: Excerpts from www.wikipedia.de
