The Cross of Lorraine (also called the double cross or Anjou cross) is a cross with two crossbars of equal length and has been a symbol of the Duchy of Lorraine since the 15th century.

A popular vantage point and landmark of the municipality of Überherrn is the monument 'For the Great Europeans'

Since 1912, Alsace-Lorraine carried a patriarchal cross on its flag, as did the French resistance (Free French Forces) from 1940 to 1944.

Inaugurated in May 1970, this monument is intended to "express the European-democratic attitude of the border population on both sides of the border." The two pylons represent the countries of Germany and France, which have been at war with each other for centuries. The metal bars in the upper area symbolize the friendship that developed after the Second World War.

A popular viewing point and at the same time a landmark of the municipality of Überherrn is the monument 'For the Great Europeans' (in short: Europe Monument) in Berus. In 1970 it was erected here on one of the highest points in the entire region on the initiative of the former Saarland Finance Minister and Überherrn citizen Helmut Bulle by the 'Association for the Erection of a Monument for the Great Europeans' as a symbol of German-French reconciliation. On July 2, 1966, former Chancellor Konrad Adenauer broke ground. The monument with a memorial plaque for the statesmen Konrad Adenauer, Robert Schuman and Alcide de Gasperi was unveiled in May 1970. Helmut Bulle, Josef Besch and Paul Henri Spaak are other personalities who have been honored with a plaque.
