On May 24, 2013, television meteorologist Jörg Kachelmann inaugurated a weather station on the edge of Hainich National Park, directly at the Weberstedt hiking parking lot. The data is included in the ARD weather forecast and also enables precise local forecasts. The following parameters are measured: temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, and the duration and intensity of sunshine.

A newly constructed and shorter forest path, at a good three kilometers long, is also suitable for small children and walks. There are several stations where you can learn a lot of interesting information.

Only a few meters away from the hiking car park of the Fuchsfarm and yet a quiet and, especially in summer, shady place where you can linger for a while.
