The castle Sully is a moated castle in the Burgundian town of Sully, Saône -et-Loire, about 14 kilometers northeast of Autun on the left bank of the Drée. Built in the middle of the 16th century on the foundations of a medieval predecessor, it is the largest Renaissance castle in Southern Burgundy. The French author Marie de Rabutin-Chantal, Marquise de Sévigné described it in one of her letters as "Fontainebleau Burgunds". Sully Castle is a closed four-winged building, to the west of the outbuildings. The castle island is surrounded by a moat, which is fed by the Drée, a tributary of the Arroux. The castle is surrounded by a 25-hectare English-style castle park with a statue of Marshal Patrice de Mac-Mahon, formerly in Algiers.
