The many factory visitors laid the foundation for the first LEGOLAND® park, which opened in Billund and welcomed 625,000 guests in its first year. Legoland Billund Resort is a Danish amusement park in Billund with a focus on LEGO and Lego bricks. The park opened on June 7, 1968 as the first Legoland park. With 1.7 million visitors in 2012 and over 50 million visitors since opening, it is the largest Danish tourist attraction outside of Copenhagen.
The park is best known for Miniland, where millions of Lego bricks have been used to recreate famous sites. In addition, there are various playgrounds, themed areas and a number of roller coasters, among others, where the Lego bricks are often incorporated in different ways.
