Der Umbrail, höchster Schweizer Pass, 2501 m

From St. Maria not too difficult to climb, even with normal Fully without engine. Throughout aspahltiert, only initially to Plattatschas rel. steep. On working days I never had much traffic (today for the 6th time). Only two sports car failures, each with about 10 howling cars.

Although I'm not a "Gümmeler", but from here to the Val Mora is gigantic! That's why the Umbrailpass is always worth it!

Nice pass that can be climbed on asphalt

Here in the 3 Ländereck it is incredibly beautiful and incredibly rich in history. The pass is easily accessible by road.

The pass is very easy to drive from Santa Maria. Only short sections at the beginning with 12%, otherwise mostly 9 to 11% - so gentle inclines. The landscape is very beautiful.

As already described here, the Umbrail Pass is easy to cycle up from Santa Maria. You can make a short detour up to the Stelvio Pass (+250 m altitude difference) and eat sausages, even if it's actually going to the Bocchetta di Forcola ;-)

A beautiful pass, less known and less popular than the Stelvio, but more "wild".
