Bike Touring Highlight
Blankenese, a former fishing village, is now one of the wealthiest parts of Hamburg. Passing restaurants and hotels that line the promenade of the Elbe beach, you can stroll along the Elbe beach or explore the approximately 5,000 steps of the Blankenese stair district. The stair quarter leads from the Elbe beach up to the Süllberg, one of the highest elevations in Hamburg. Those who walk further along the beach can explore the Blankenese lighthouse. It is located in the middle of the Elbe and is accessible via a footbridge. A little further down the river, on the Falkensteiner Ufer between Blankenese and Rissen, dogs can also spend a relaxing day on the water and let off steam without a leash. With the expansion of the Elbe Park on the Falkensteiner Ufer, it has also become possible to walk longer on the beach towards Rissen. The Elbe beach can be reached from the Blankenese S-Bahn station by bus 48: the buses on the line are also called mountain goats because they skilfully wind their way through the steep and narrow streets in Blankenese.
