Bike Touring Highlight
It looks good: The café below the Müggelturm has been open again for a year and enjoys great popularity. The café is handicapped accessible with a small elevator. Also on the upper floor is permanently built. Maybe it's already walkable in the summer. The old kitchen areas were already provided with windows in the fall. The terrace floor has been finished for a long time.
A snack does not exist anymore.

A must for all who want more than just out - here is the pausing still associated with a fantastic view and especially a small athletic flight of stairs. So first, enjoy the view of Berlin and the beautiful Müggelberg mountains - do not forget the lake of the same name and then relax and enjoy the coffee and cake on the sun terrace (every now and then there's also live music).
Mountain bikers will find here as well a route through the forest, as well as hikers up the stairs and motorists can park quite relaxed and on foot the way through the forest about 800m up with fresh air.

The tower and the view over Berlin are great. The cafe downstairs is outrageously expensive. With all the love and understanding of maintenance, high costs, etc. pp, unfortunately, this is no longer in any relation and is no longer justifiable, as we do not speak of any 5 star kitchen, but of "ready-made cake" and ready meals.
Anyway - the tower, the climb and the view are worth a visit.

The Müggelturm: For years there were only ruins all around, now everything is being renovated, instead of the small snack bar there is now a much larger restaurant, which (as of 2019) will also be expanded. Nevertheless, the place lost its morbid and therefore special character with the renovation. In the past you had to pay the entrance fee at the small snack bar, € 1 per person, those were the days, today the entrance fee is significantly more expensive, I haven't been upstairs since the operator changed. Because today the tower belongs to a dubious entrepreneur who is known and not very popular here in the area around Müggelsee. However, the view from the top is unbeatable. In addition to Müggelsee, Langem See, BER / Schönefeld Airport, you can also see the Tropical Islands Halle and the television tower and other landmarks in central Berlin in good visibility. You should have been upstairs before, but the Müggelberge are beautiful too.

The first tower has been here since 1880, the ten-meter-high Spindler Tower, named after Carl Spindler, one of the Spindler brothers, owner of the laundry in Spindlersfeld. It was too small for the visitors, the distant view was poor. In 1889, for example, the Spindlers had a 27-meter-high wooden pagoda-style tower built. Fortunately, it survived all the explosions by the Nazis in the east of Berlin in late 1944 and early 1945, to which the Bismarck Tower on the Müggelberge fell victim.
During renovation work in 1958, however, a major fire completely destroyed the old tower. Partly financed by donations, the current tower was opened on December 31, 1961. The tower is just under thirty meters high and still offers a great view of Berlin and the surrounding area.
In order to make the tower handicapped accessible, the current owner plans to build a second tower next to the first, which contains an elevator and is otherwise to be very similar to the old tower. The old tower can be reached via a bridge. The project is very controversial and it is questionable whether it will come about.
