Bike Touring Highlight
Bad Wimpfen is on the left bank of the Neckar, about 10 km northwest of Heilbronn, as the crow flies. Its older part, Wimpfen im Tal, runs along the river in its wide floodplain on the left. A little west of it stands Wimpfen am Berg on the upper slope to the Kraichgau, to the left of the river valley. There, in the Middle Ages, the Staufer Palatinate and the mountain town were built on an east spur above the impact slope of the river turning below it to the north and the small side valley of the Adam's Trench, which runs bluntly from the southwest. The newer parts of the city spread out to the west in a flatter rise.Bad Wimpfen also includes the two-kilometer northwest part of Hohenstadt, which is located on the left slope of a slightly larger side valley that stretches east to the Neckar. The urban area of Wimpfens is, with the exception of a tiny gusset at the Jagst estuary opposite Wimpfen in the valley, to the left of the Neckar and mostly on an undulating corridor about 200–250 meters high. There is only a narrow strip of forest on the Neckar slope, plus somewhat larger forest islands on the northern and western city limits. This hilly plain drains for the most part via small valleys directly to the Neckar. Only in the southwest do some watercourses run beyond the city limits to the Böllinger Bach, a somewhat longer tributary of the Neckar.

Bad Wimpfen is an absolute highlight among the towns along the Neckar, you shouldn't miss it! The historic city offers many romantic corners, winding streets and countless picturesque half-timbered facades. Cafes and restaurants throughout the city center invite you to take a break. If you have the opportunity, you should definitely visit the Christmas market, it is legendary.
