Passo dello Stelvio is the mountain of the mountains in Italy. A mythical col, known for the Giro d'Italia and the many hairpin bends. You climb over 21 kilometers to the top and then descend again to Bormio. Now set your goal and mark the Stelvio off your bucket list. The perfect challenge for less experienced cyclists!

Especially on weekends, numerous and often reckless motorcyclists spoil the enjoyment. Nevertheless, having conquered the second highest alpine pass is always a lasting experience. The fun is maximum when you tackle it on the annual Stelvio cycling day when the pass is closed to motorized traffic on all three sides.

Passo dello Stelvio, an epic climb that only becomes great if you tackle it!

I think the Stelvio is overrated, it is breathtakingly beautiful but the traffic is extremely annoying (especially motorcycles and sports cars) and it is not particularly difficult to drive.
    My tips:
    1. On BikeDay at the end of August, the Stelvio will be closed to motorized traffic
    2. Mountain roads with tolls such as the Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße are significantly less traffic. The Kaunertaler is also incredibly beautiful and imposing and even a lot more difficult to drive (from the reservoir).
    3. Take a look at the Dreiländergiro, which is a round trip over the Stelvio, Umbrailpass, Ofenpass, and Norberthöhe near Nauders. A total of 3,300 meters and 160 km.
