The Dietesheim quarries are a very popular destination. Where basalt was broken up until 1982, a retreat and habitat for various rare animals and plants was created on an area of around 61 hectares. Around 22.5 hectares of the area show up with partly deep blue water in a total of eleven waters. The two largest lakes are called Vogelsberger See and Oberwaldsee. The Hansteinweiher north of the two larger lakes was created by gravel mining and is leased from a fishing association. Due to the steep walls and the nature and ultimately human protection, bathing and boating is prohibited in all lakes. But even so, the high cliffs and interesting rock formations, the vegetation and the diversity of nature, which are reflected undisturbed in the water and can thus double optically, offer enough pleasure on a hike. The paths lead to special viewpoints. One of them is the so-called Canyon Bridge.
