On the eastern edge of Steinen is the Brinkenweiher, a designated nature reserve. The Brinkenweiher has emerged as the Hausweiher by the damming of the source streams of Holzbachs. With a surface of 21 hectares, the Brinkenweiher is the third largest pond in the Westerwald Lake District. In the east, it is surrounded by dense forest, in the north, the swampy shore is an ideal habitat for waterfowl and other animals.
