Mountain Biking Highlight
Altenstein Castle is not far from Thuringia's oldest spa town, Bad Liebenstein. Built around 1736 in the neo-renaissance style, it was once used as a summer residence for the dukes of Saxony-Meiningen. The castle is surrounded by an idyllic landscape park with a Chinese house, ornate ornamental beds and viewpoints into the Werra valley. Since 2017, the castle has housed a memorial for Johannes Brahms, who visited there several times.

The landscape park is very beautiful and should be and remain a place for all visitors to relax and enjoy.
For this reason, the parking regulations clearly state that vehicles of all kinds are prohibited. Cycling is also prohibited in the entire park area. The signs are everywhere.
When the bike is pushed you can also discover a lot more, at least that's how I feel.
