The Lene Voigt district park, which was built in 1997, emerged from the Eilenburg station grounds.
The Eilenburger Bahnhof in Leipzig was built between 1872 and 1874 as a terminal station and served as a passenger station until 1942. The last passenger train left the station on November 2nd, 1942 in the direction of Taucha. In WWII, the station was almost completely destroyed, from 1945 to around 1973 it was used as a freight station, later only storage space with connecting tracks.

The park was created on the site of the former Eilenburger Bahnhof. This green lung for the east of Leipzig leads from the court to Riebeckstraße and represents an important green connection, which has its continuation in the Anger-Crottendorfer Bahnschneise to the entrance in the east of Mierendorffstraße.
