    For decades, the citizens of the municipality of Zens wanted to commemorate the fallen soldiers of World War II from 1939 to 1945. The Heimatfreunde-Zicken-Zens e.V. have had a commemorative plaque made, on which the fallen soldiers of the 1st and 2nd World War are named.58 years after the end of the war, on 16.11.2003 for the Memorial Day, it was finally time. The plaque was solemnly unveiled in the presence of numerous citizens from Zens and many guests present.Mayor Dr. Despite the disagreements between the community and the Heimatverein, Frank Ahrend describes critically but content the unveiling of this memorial plaque. Pastor Thomas Lütgert († September 30, 2015) described the attachment of the plaque as a sign of reminder for reconciliation, understanding and peace.
