In 1905, the community erected a memorial to King Frederick II of Prussia in gratitude for the drainage of the Oderbruch, which he had ordered, based on a design by Hans Weddo von Glümer. After the Second World War, the statue of Resident Letschins was rescued from the meltdown and stored. In 1990 it was put up again.

Frederick the Great is highly revered for his services in draining the Oderbruch. Afterwards he is said to have said: "Here I conquered a province in peace".
A similarly elaborate monument can also be found in Neutrebbin.
