A floating monument has moored in Stade: The M / S "Greundiek" is a coastal motor ship from the year 1950. As a monument and culture ship, it is anchored in the Stader city harbor and can be visited. During the summer months you can also do >> excursions with guests. Occasionally cultural events take place on board. The ship is also available for private celebrations. The "Greundiek" is one of the first civilian steel ships to be fully welded; Therefore, not a single row of rivets can be found on the hull and superstructures. Historically valuable are the original preserved wooden bridges with the old helm and nautical equipment. The chambers are still partially furnished with the furniture from the 50s.
The "Greundiek" was laid in 1949 as "Hermann-Hans" on the Rickmers shipyard in Bremerhaven on Kiel; The launching was in January 1950. Later, the ship of the Seeschahrtschule Grünendeich served for educational purposes. So many years on board the training as a ship mechanic was carried out. 1994 took over the association "old port Stade e.V." the "Greundiek".stade-tourismus.de/de/museumsschiff-greundiek

A day tour with the GREUNDIEK from Stade to Glückstadt and back is highly recommended. And if you have not yet been to Glückstadt, the GREUNDIEK is an unusual opportunity to get there.
You experience a bit of seafaring romance and the crew tells one story after another and explains and guides you through the whole ship. Very entertaining.
The catering on board is simple (sausages and beer or soft drinks) and the price is moderate.
