This ensemble, consisting of the Protestant Christ Church, the rectory and the New School from the late 19th century, goes back to the initiative of Friedrich Engels Sr., who, as a textile manufacturer from Barmen, strongly influenced not only the development of the town as a textile location, but also its community life.
