This civilization arose in 2800 BC in Lagozza a Besnate (Varese). Lagozza del Besnate (formerly a peat bog) is now an archaeological site within the Ticino Park. It was once a lake basin with 40,000 cubic meters of water, and today it appears as a partially drained basin. It was formed following the last WURM glaciation and was home to a settlement of approximately 350 people.
