On a plateau above the village of Tegna is one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the Locarnese. Still visible today, the remains of Tegna Castle are important material witnesses that allow us to study our history over several millennia.
Thanks to its topographic location on the top of a natural barrier at the entrance to the Valle Maggia, and with far-reaching views of all the surrounding territory reaching Lake Maggiore, the castle was a strategic location for all successive peoples of this region. In a relatively small space, it is therefore possible to stratigraphically follow the different phases of human presence over a particularly long period of time.
