Very beautiful bathing lake with a large sunbathing area and gastronomy as well as the possibility to walk around the entire lake, a worthwhile destination.

Beautiful lake above the bike path. A detour is always worth it.

The lake was created between 1968 and 1970. EnBW, the operating company of the Neckarwestheim nuclear power plant, initiated a later enlargement of the lake in 2000-2001. Low water in the Neckar during the summer and legal requirements had previously led to a shortage of cooling water at the reactor at this time of the year. Due to the larger damming, more water could be supplied to the Zaber and thus the Neckar in order to replace the evaporated cooling water.
In May 2009 the new nature park center of the Stromberg-Heuchelberg nature park opened its doors on the lakeshore.
