The first Moritz church was built in Romanesque style around 1021 as part of the nunnery. The art historian Heinrich Bergner speaks of a founding period between 1002 and 1028. 1119 was the dissolution of the nunnery by Bishop Dietrich I and the conversion into an Augustinian monastery and thus the first documentary mention of the monastery. After a fire of the church as well as a large part of the connected monastery 1260 were made restorations. Parts of the south tower still testify to the remnants of the Gothic church, the oldest building in Naumburg and the northern side aisle (Wikipedia).
