In winter, admission to the Blooming Baroque is free (approximately from early November to early March). Information on the exact period under: blueba.de/veranstaltungen.html (if it says "Closed / no season" means that the park is accessible for free). ;)

The Residenzschloss in Ludwigsburg was built between 1704 and 1733 under the rule of Duke Eberhard Ludwig von Württemberg in the Baroque style. It is one of the largest Baroque palaces in Germany. In 1709, the plans for the city of Ludwigsburg began as a typical Baroque planned city, which should underline the absolutist claim of the Duke. From 1718, the city was built west of the castle. For a time, Ludwigsburg was the capital of the Duchy of Württemberg instead of Stuttgart. The castle is surrounded on three sides by a large park. For the 250th anniversary of the castle in 1954, these gardens were partly created in a historical, partly baroque style. Since then, the garden with its fairytale garden has been known as "Blooming Baroque" and is popular as a destination. The ensemble of gardens, Residenzschloss and surrounding pleasure palaces makes Ludwigsburg beyond the country's borders a popular tourist attraction. Gardens, architecture and original interior design with different forms of Baroque, Rococo, Classicism and Empire show the different views of different eras. For the 300th anniversary of the castle in 2004 four new museums were opened in the castle.more: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Residenzschloss_Ludwigsburg
