The castle complex with outbuildings and park, at the site of a former moated castle, significantly determines the townscape. The elegant Rococo complex is still inhabited by the Rotenhan family and is therefore not open to the public.
Freiherr Joh. Friedrich von Rotenhan had the three-winged rococo construction begun in 1751 according to the plans of Joh. David Steingruber from Ansbach with the north wing. In 1756 the main wing was erected and in 1765 the south wing. The actual front looks over a high terrace and a broad stone staircase to the east in the castle park on the Baunach. It is a large English park in the middle of which stands the orangery built in 1774.
But even from the village square, the castle is very inviting. The most beautiful room of this representative building is the "Great Hall" decorated with faience and Rococo stucco. The two side wings opening to the street contain living rooms, rooms of the estate administration and the family archive.
A well-known guest in the castle was around 1810, the poet Friedrich Rückert, who tried here for the young officer's daughter Agnes Müller and also devoted her some poems.
