Hiking
33 houses with 119 inhabitants make up the village of Dolní Hraničná (Unterkunreuth), which was first documented in 1249 and was then owned by the Waldsassen Monastery. The once somewhat larger neighboring village of Horní Hraničná (Oberkunreuth) disappeared after the Second World War. From 1950 onwards, it lay within the restricted border zone, and the castle there, used as a sanatorium for children with lung diseases a good hundred years ago, became the headquarters of a border guard company. It fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1977. Almost nothing remains of Oberkunreuth today.
