Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
The nature reserve Holter Wald is a large, contiguous forest area on the eastern edge of the Westphalian Bay. It lies with a size of 613.14 ha in the area of the city castle Holte-Stukenbrock in the circle Gütersloh.
The Holter Forest is a preferred recreational area for residents of surrounding towns and communities and is largely designated as a conservation area. It is traversed from east to west by the Sennebächen Landerbach (in the north of the Holter forest), Ölbach (in the center) and Rodenbach (in the south). The subsoil consists almost entirely of sandy soils typical of the Senne landscape. Therefore, a predominantly senne-typical tree population, consisting of pines, oaks and beech trees, predominates. In the immediate vicinity of the streams and streams are also moisture-loving tree species such as alders and ash trees.Source: Wikipedia
