Bike Touring Highlight
The half-timbered old town is the main attraction of the city. In the Second World War unscathed remained, there are numerous half-timbered houses from the last centuries to find, which were restored - particularly at the Zöllnerstraße and the new road - partly lavishly true to original. These include the Celle Synagogue and probably the best-known half-timbered house, the Hoppener Haus. At his side are the Speaking Lanterns.
The Celle Castle dates back to a moated castle of the early 14th century, which was located above a ford through the Aller. In the subsequent period as a seat of government, the castle has undergone numerous extensions and conversions, the vast majority of the building comes from the Renaissance. In the castle are the castle theater existing since 1671 as well as the residence museum.
