The replica of the medieval pottery kiln refers to the past and the flourishing pottery culture along the Rode Beek. For this reason, the furnace was reconstructed at this location near the Rode Beek in Schinveld in miniature format.
The pottery kiln was built on the initiative of city politics and local history society. The area around Rode Beek has been known since the Middle Ages for its clay and pottery culture. Schinveld's pottery was found far beyond the border, as far as Germany, France and even Great Britain.
