Bike Touring Highlight
The Nürtinger hydroelectric power plant, which was put into operation in 1927, greets visitors entering the city like a relic from another time. The listed building dating back to 1925 houses a museum interior and a more than 70
Years old power generator, which was once built by the Esslinger Maschinenfabrik.
Below the building, a ship 's screw - like Kaplan turbine rotates in
Neckar water. 9,000 liters per second flow past the time-honored turbine and allow the generator, which was originally produced, to perform well
of 180 kilowatts. Together with the new generator installed in 1996 and the outdated second turbine, the power plant generates 2 million kilowatt hours of electricity
in the year, with an average of 10.3 cubic meters of water flowing through the system per second.
The Stadtwerke Nürtingen invite school classes and youth groups to take a tour of the power station and explore the phenomenon of electricity generation from hydropower.fische-frachter.de/fileadmin/fische-frachter.de/Lernorte/WKA_Nuertingen.pdf
