Between the old blast furnace area Phoenix West and the Phoenixsee in Dortmund are the remains of the old slag track - the viaduct. More precisely, only the two abutments, because the bridge is long history. The prestigious bridge construction company built the Hympendahl Bridge between 1891 and 1901. Almost 50 years later, it reigned supreme. The construct served the slag track, which dumped daily slag from the blast furnaces on a heap. When the dump Schallacker was no longer sufficient, a new place had to be found. This could only be reached via the built bridge. Thus, the accumulated slag was driven backwards from the mountain and over the bridge and dumped the cargoes at the end of the railway embankment into the valley.

A remnant from another time, something like that is not built today.
