Bike Touring Highlight
The Abraumberg is a testimony to the diligence of the citizens in this region. It is today a recreation area and nature has also made its entrance.
And yet: He is also the proof of the depletion of nature by humans. The mountain is completely made of material under our feet, plus the mined and burnt coal. Daily breaks are always possible here. Some of the over 100 heaps are larger and taller than the pyramids in Giza!

The Halde Rheinelbe (also called Himmelstreppe) is about 100 meters above sea level high walkable and passable mountain dump in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf. It is located on the Leithestraße in Gelsenkirchen. The Rheinelbe stockpile is very popular with dirt, downhill and freeride bikers who have built various routes over time to ride outside the normal trails.
