    Blankenstein is the starting and ending point of the Rennsteig. Since April 28, 1990, the Rennsteig in its entire length of 168.3 kilometers (historical length) walk again, one of the most important European long-distance trails. The Selbitzsteg was rebuilt in 1991 and handed over to its purpose. Almost parallel to the trail is also a bicycle route.
